French designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec subvert the natural desire of molten glass to flow into round shapes in this series of vases for iittala. Ruutu, which means diamond or square in Finnish, is a collection of vases that allow games of composition and meetings of color. When collected and combined, they make small seamless installations that show the strength and delicate nature of glass and the beautiful simplicity of color.
Each mouth-blown piece requires seven skilled craftsman and twenty-four hours to produce in iittala's glass factory in Finland.
